A Jewish Night on Broadway

A Taste of Jewish Broadway Comes to Phoenix!Sept. 27, 2017 – Actress and singer Lauren Molina – who has starred in such Broadway shows as “Rock of Ages,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Candide” and “Wonderful Town” – will join Cantor Jonathan Angress for “A Jewish Night on Broadway” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017 at Beth El Congregation.
Lauren Molina is an accomplished singer, actress and cellist, having graced the Broadway stages of New York City, as well as many regional theaters throughout the country. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of Michigan, Molina has performed with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and has collaborated with several New York City Opera artists. On Broadway, she originated the role of Regina in “Rock of Ages: and starred as Joanna in “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” alongside Patti Lupone.
Cantor Jonathan Angress has been the cantor of Beth El Congregation in Phoenix since November 2016 and previously served congregations in Florida, Maryland and New York City. Cantor Angress holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music and Judaic Studies from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami and a Master of Sacred Music and Cantorial Ordination from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. A native Floridian, Cantor Angress has appeared on the theater stage in numerous productions with the Hillel Community Theater and the Jewish Cultural Arts Theater. Notable roles include The Fiddler in “Fiddler on the Roof,” Gaston in “Beauty and the Beast” and Javert in “Les Miserables.” Cantor Angress has also consulted on Jewish musical, cultural and religious topics for multiple Broadway figures such as Paul Schoeffler, Adam Kantor, Lauren Molina, Jennifer Hope Wills and Donna Vivino.
In 2015, Cantor Angress first created and produced “A Jewish Night on Broadway,” a Jewish Broadway revue designed to be performed annually with different Broadway performers. Cantor Angress is thrilled to bring his inaugural performer Lauren Molina, to Phoenix to present “A Jewish Night on Broadway!” Both Cantor Angress and Lauren Molina will sing Broadway songs together, solo, and even some Jewish songs with a theatrical flair! Piano accompaniment will be provided by local pianist, Daniel Kurek.
