Shabbat Services Registration

We are very excited to announce that the leadership of Beth El Congregation, guided by our COVID-19 Task Force, has approved reopening for Shabbat morning services with the following metrics and safety protocols.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to strive to help keep us healthy.  These steps are temporary and will be revised and conditions change.


Shabbat Morning/Yom Tov Indoor Sanctuary Services

COVID-19 Metrics

Benchmark for in-person services to be held:

  • 7-day positive diagnostic test average in City of Phoenix  ≤ 7.9% for 2 consecutive weeks

  • Cases below 99 per 100,000 in City of Phoenix

  • Data will be checked each Thursday morning to determine whether services will occur that Saturday:


Health and Safety Protocols:

  • Registration of each person attending is required to be admitted to the building. We must maintain accurate records for contact tracing and, unfortunately, cannot accommodate walk-ins at this time.

  • All guests will check in with the greeter prior to entering the building.

    • Screening question asked upon arrival:
      Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours: new loss of taste or smell, fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea

    • ​​​​If you have any of the above symptoms, we ask that you stay home and sign up to attend in the future.

  • Masks, physical distancing, and sanitizing hands are required

  • Household members can sit together

  • Bring your own borrowed prayer books, Tallit, and Kippah

  • Visiting after services must occur outside of the building (no Kiddush luncheon will be served)



  • Up to 30 attendees each week (plus clergy, staff, and security)


Priorities for in-person attendance:

  • Lay Leaders/Torah readers

  • Participants with Honors

  • Those without access to virtual services

  • Family members of participants

  • B’nei Mitzvah families


Registration Process:

  • Registration is limited to 4 members per household per week

  • Torah Readers and other participants will be signed up automatically each week.

  • Additional spots will be released each week on Thursdays as well as the following week's sign up so plan to sign up on Thursday afternoons for the next week's open seats. An email alert will go to the congregation if any spots remain open to sign up for that week.
